Experience white water rafting at Tees Barrage International White Water Centre — the leading watersports destination in north-east England.
White water rafting is a fun, fast and unforgettable activity for people aged 14 and you don’t need any prior experience. We have a friendly, highly-trained team here to help you get to grips with the basics before heading out. Plus we provide you with all the equipment you need to have fun and stay safe on the rapids.
Your group gets its own raft and expert white water rafting guide to help everyone conquer the wild waters ahead. Navigating a network of twists, the course takes you on a water rollercoaster of sudden drops, crashing waves and sharp turns. Your aim? To reach the finishing line without getting soaked! You might even get the chance to run on our extreme course and tackle the biggest artificial drop in the UK!
Once you dry off, you can head to The Barrage Cafe for drinks and food. Or, why not test your technique with a fun and fast raft building course?
Tees Barrage is home to two international-standard courses, 300 metres of rapid white water, and the steepest drop in the UK. The course is powered by four, 30-tonne Archimedes screws pumping more than 14,000 litres of water every second. There is also an added lazyboy conveyor to carry your raft back to the top when you’ve completed the course. So, you can weave, spin, surf, and flip over and over again!
